E. Eligibility

To be eligible for the working holiday extension visa, you must:

✔Be between 18 and 35 years old when you apply

✔Be in New Zealand and hold a valid working holiday visa. If not, you should apply for the Working Holiday visa

✔Meet all requirements from your first application, except the restriction on having previously held a Working Holiday Scheme visa

✔Must not have previously been issued a Working Holidaymaker Extension Work Visa

✔Provide proof of your identity, which includes:

- 2 acceptable photos of your head and shoulders

- Your Canadian passport or a certificate of identity*

*Certificate of identity: A certificate of identity is a government-issued document, other than a passport, that permits an individual to travel. While it verifies the person’s identity, it does not confirm their nationality. This document is intended for travel purposes when a passport is unavailable.

✔Have completed at least 3 months of seasonal work*1 in the horticulture or viticulture industries*2 while holding your current Working Holiday Visa. Acceptable evidence may include:

- Letters from employers

- Pay slips

-Tax records

*1: Seasonal work - Planting, maintaining, harvesting or packing crops in the horticulture or viticulture industries

*2: Viticulture - Grape-growing businesses / Horticulture - Fruit and vegetable growing businesses

✔Have a ticket to leave New Zealand or sufficient funds to purchase one. Acceptable evidence includes:

- Your travel ticket

- Proof of sufficient funds to buy an outbound ticket, in addition to the money needed for living expenses in New Zealand.

✔Be in good health and provide proof of having medical and comprehensive hospitalization insurance for the duration of your extended stay

✔Meet good character requirements

✔Submit a General Medical Certificate (INZ 1007) and a Chest X-ray certificate (INZ 1096), as your stay will exceed 12 months

✔Be in good health

✔Meet good character requirements

The Working Holiday Extension Work Visa allows eligible individuals who have completed eligible work in the viticulture or horticulture industries in New Zealand during their Working Holiday visa to extend their stay for an additional 3 months.
