1. Subclass 417

◆The Third Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417) allows eligible individuals who have completed specific work in regional Australia during their second Working Holiday Visa to extend their stay for an additional 12 months.

A. Who can apply?

Individuals aged 18 to 30 (or up to 35 for certain countries in green) from eligible nations who currently hold or who have held a Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417) and have completed the required specified work in regional Australia.

Belgium / Canada / Republic of Cyprus / Denmark / Estonia / Finland / France / Germany / Hong Kong / Republic of Ireland / Italy / Japan / Republic of Korea / Malta / Netherlands / Norway/ Sweden / Taiwan / The United Kingdom 

◎If you submit your visa application at the age of 30 (or 35) but turn 31 (or 36) before a decision is made, your visa can still be approved as long as you meet all other eligibility criteria.

- Study for up to 4 months

E. Eligibility

To be eligible for the third subclass 417 visa, you must:

✔Hold or have previously held a second Working Holiday (subclass 417) visa or a bridging visa that was issued when your second Working Holiday (subclass 417) visa expired. If not, you should apply for the first Working Holiday Visa or the second Working Holiday Visa.

✔If you are in Australia, you must either hold a valid substantive visa or have had your last substantive visa expire within the past 28 days

✔Hold a passport from an eligible country or region

✔Be between 18 and 30 years old (or up to 35 for certain countries) when you apply

✔Have completed 6 months of eligible subclass 417 work

†UK passport holders are eligible for a second or third Working Holiday (subclass 417) Visa without meeting the specified subclass 417 work requirement , provided they apply on or after 1 July 2024 using their UK passport.

✔Not bring dependent children with you

✔Submit the application independently; family members cannot be included in your application

✔Must have enough money

†If you are applying from within Australia, there is no requirement to provide proof of financial funds.

If you are applying from outside Australia, you must demonstrate that you have about AUD 5,000 to cover your living expenses and purchase an onward travel ticket when your visa ends.
