Who we are:
ILS is an Ontario Health funded not for profit agency providing support and services to adults wishing to live independently in their homes. Through our programs and services, we are able to assist adults living with permanent physical disabilities and seniors aging at home lead independent, dignified, and productive lives.
What you would be doing:
Reporting to the Supervisor of Client Services, ILS Attendants provide high quality support services that enable clients to live independently, within their community. Under limited supervision, this role includes assisting clients in their homes with non-medical activities of daily living (ADLs), and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) as required and as outlined in the client’s individual service plan, under the direction of the client.
Required Qualifications:
Personal Support Worker Certification, RN, RPN, DSW or a minimum of 3000 hours demonstrated work experience in community care/long-term care/healthcare setting
Current First Aid and CPR level C Certification, successful Vulnerable Sector Check
Reliable personal vehicle and valid driver’s license to travel to and from client homes
The ideal candidate will possess:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of clients and partners in a diverse community
Knowledge of issues concerning physical disabilities and/or age-related conditions
Highly organized and excellent time management skills
Demonstrated client service focus
Demonstrated conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge and understanding of behaviour management principles
Knowledge and understanding of relevant health & safety legislation.
Comfortability in using related equipment including technology (smart phone).
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of information & respect privacy laws.
Strong ethical standards and understanding of professional boundaries
Knowledge of and abilities in transferring, lifting, bowel and bladder routines and other Attendant care duties. (would be an asset).
